Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and season generously with salt and pepper. Place it in the slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, cumin, and salt. Rub this mixture all over the pork.
  3. Place sliced onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Drizzle cider vinegar over the pork, then pour BBQ sauce on top, ensuring some sauce seeps into the gaps.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-6 hours until tender.
  6. Shred the pork using two forks and mix it back into the sauce before serving.
