  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for cheesecake)
  • 2 tbsp culinary-grade matcha powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the granulated sugar until combined and let cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time.
  3. In another bowl, sift together flour and cocoa powder. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat together cream cheese, sugar, matcha powder, and one egg until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spread the cheesecake mixture on top, then dollop remaining brownie batter and swirl gently with a knife.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Allow to cool before slicing.
