Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz fresh cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into oval patties (about 1 inch thick).
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; brown the patties for about 4 minutes on each side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add mushrooms and sauté for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms; stir for 1 minute. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps, then add Worcestershire sauce and simmer until thickened (3–4 minutes).
  5. Return patties to skillet; cover and simmer on low for 10 minutes to meld flavors.
