Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef liver, sliced into 1/2-inch strips
  • 2 medium yellow onions, sliced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 2 tsp fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the beef liver under cold water and pat dry. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining butter if needed and increase heat to medium-high. Cook liver slices for 3-4 minutes per side until browned but slightly pink inside.
  4. Return sautéed onions to the skillet, mixing well with the liver for even flavor distribution. Serve hot, garnished with herbs if desired.
