Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings or drumsticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, minced garlic, and sugar until smooth. Add chicken pieces and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight for best results.
  2. Prepare Flour Mixture: In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat Oil: In a deep frying pan, heat oil to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Coat Chicken: Remove marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture and shake off excess flour.
  5. Fry Chicken: Carefully add chicken pieces in batches to the hot oil and fry for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Glaze and Serve: Toss fried chicken in additional gochujang sauce if desired, then serve immediately.
