  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 8 oz sausage links (pork, turkey, or plant-based)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk mixed with 1 tbsp water for egg wash

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly. Add melted butter, salt, and flour gradually while mixing until dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  3. Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned; chop into small pieces.
  4. Scramble eggs in the same skillet until just set; combine with sausage.
  5. Punch down risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread scrambled eggs and sausage evenly over the dough and roll tightly.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the rolled dough into equal pieces and place on a greased baking sheet. Brush tops with egg wash and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
