  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Gruyere cheese, grated
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the grated Gruyere cheese.
  5. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing into squares.
