  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp butter (for greasing and drizzling)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Slice the russet potatoes into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Heat until just simmering; do not boil.
  4. Layer half the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Pour half the cream mixture over them and sprinkle half the cheese on top. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Top with panko breadcrumbs and drizzle melted butter over them.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil in the last 15 minutes to brown the top.
